Renowned in angling circles, the HEARTLAND Ryuryu series is Haruhiko Murakami’s signature fishing‑rod line. Murakami has now unveiled five new all‑environment‑capable models. The lineup includes one flagship spinning model: the Sagake HEARTLAND HL 6112 ULRFS‑SV AGS 24; two standard general‑purpose models, one baitcast and one spinning: 722LRSB‑24 (baitcast) and 722MLRSS‑24 (spinning); plus two salt‑water big‑game spinning rods: HL LL 733 MLRSS‑24 and HL LL 763 MLRSS‑24.
The flagship Sagake HEARTLAND HL 6112 ULRFS‑SV AGS 24 features a striking red finish and is fitted with Daiwa’s lightweight AGS carbon‑fiber guide system. Weighing merely 58 g, it prioritizes ultra‑lightweight construction with minimal decorative hardware, resulting in a streamlined grip and reel seat. Rated UL, the blank delivers both stiffness and suppleness. This rod draws upon the concept prototype Murakami designed 25 years ago, which could not be manufactured back then due to material‑technology limitations, and has now come into production.
Technical and material upgrades have been implemented for the two classic updated models. The revised 722LRSB‑24 baitcast variant is optimized for modern‑day angling. Murakami intentionally tuned its blank taper for a moderately slow action, pairing it with fine‑tuned reels for playful presentations of small and micro hard baits.
The 722MLRSS‑24 spinning model is a versatile workhorse, well‑suited for long‑distance casting of minnows and crankbaits.
The salt‑water big‑game HL LL 733 MLRSS‑24 and HL LL 763 MLRSS‑24 can cast jigs up to 40 g and target large salt‑water species. The two rods differ only in length while sharing identical specifications. Tuned to RS action, they feature a firm tip and resilient lower blank, delivering excellent casting performance and fish‑holding capability during fights.
